Took my daughter here for her first ever dentist appointment and we had the best experience. All the staff were friendly and Dr. Amy was wonderful. My daughter was a little nervous at first, what 2 year old wouldn't be?, but once Dr. Amy started her oral exam my daughter relaxed. The TV on the ceiling was a great distraction. We will definitely be coming back.

My daughter has had cleanings every 6 months at Southpoint Pediatric Dentistry, as well as three extensive procedures over the last three years (4 years to 6 years old), all of which included sedation. Dr. Amy and her team are calm, cheerful and kind to my daughter; they take the time to answer all my questions and discuss my concerns. They help to problem solve issues I see possibly arising during the visit and work to comfort my daughter when she’s uncertain during the procedures. Our family is so grateful. Dr. Amy and her team have made difficult days not so bad.

My experience refers to on the phone only as they are refusing to see my little one because he has Medicaid. I have been in communication with this location since the beginning of August and as recent as yesterday when I was actually told to stop calling because of having Medicaid for him. Back in August, I was told to call back like every 2 weeks because I was told that the providers put a hold on accepting any patients with Medicaid. The exact words were, "we want to make sure we take care of our OWN patients before we accept any Medicaid ones" We were actually referred out to this location by another facility. I explained that we had a referral and we were still refused. I guess Medicaid patients aren't good enough and aren't important enough to be seen and given care.

The most amazing staff and office you will find in the area! I have been a mama almost 30 years so I've seen a few Drs in my time. My baby girl had extensive work at this location and they were amazing even when I cried from seeing her in pain..very thoughtful, personable and just amazing all around. The Dentist is very kind as well as everyone you encounter. And the decor is very pleasant! My favorite has to be the huge tree in the lobby. If your looking for an amazing peds dentist they hit every mark and I'm picky! Thank you for taking excellent care of my family .

I just love this practice and both my kids love coming to southpoint pediatrics. Their favorite part is playing video games and getting a prize out of the prize box! The staff is super sweet and understanding. And the doctors are amazing! You won’t be disappointed!

My son needed some work done and Dr. Mark Cummings was wonderful, kind, gentle and patient with my 6 yr old. He has done excellent work. His assistant Jeni was very kind. The hygienist Angel was also wonderful with 3 of my children, very friendly. From the front desk to the back they are great! Thank you Dr. Mark for your excellent care!

I will never step foot in this dental office again. I came here because I googled pediatric dentist offices that had experience with autistic children. When I called the receptionist was so pleasant and let me know about a calming room that was available if my son got overwhelmed that made me feel great. The dental appointment could not have gone any worse. I literally wanted to teleport out of there. My son who is on the spectrum was repeatedly asked to open his mouth while his dental hygienist cleaned his teeth. In the past I have assisted hygienists in helping my son keep his mouth open. The hygienist told me that she had it as we both can’t hold his mouth open, so I backed off. I explained to her my son has autism so he may not understand what is being asked of him. She told me she understood he had autism but kept asking my son if he could hear her? My son is not deaf he’s autistic, which lets me know that she definitely does not understand that autism is a neurological disorder and affects the brain. Southpoint pediatric is not kid friendly at all. That dental hygienist needs to be working with adults and no where near kids. I was asked twice if I wanted to schedule a follow up appt for my children and I responded “we will call in”. I wanted nothing but to run out of that office and never return. I don’t need an apology, email, or phone call. I simply need you to train your staff on kids who have disabilities and different abilities and how best you can serve them. Not once did the hygienist ask what would make my son most comfortable but kept asking if he could hear her and to open his mouth. Quick to take someone’s money but give them mediocre service. I pray the next family won’t have to endure what I did. It’s so hard to find good medical care for our autistic children and this appointment was a reminder just how far we have to go in this world to truly make it more inclusive to others.

Beware! If you are looking for a place that values equity, this is not it. If you want your child to be treated like a product on a factory floor, this place is for you. Into unnessary procedures? Also the place for you. But only if you don't have secondary insurance. I was unfortunate enough to bring two of my children in, but will never do so again. The first time, the experience was just okay. I watched staff shuffle kids in and out at a ridiculous pace, acting as if they were on a conveyor belt. The doctor looked at my patient for maybe two minutes, if that. An extensive dental plan involving many crowns and two extractions was formed and full sedation was suggested. The plan was presented to me by office staff and I was not given an opportunity to process the plan and think through if I had any questions before the appointment was scheduled. Upon bringing the other child in, I was told after checking in that due to my service dog I would not be allowed in the main treatment area and we would have to wait longer until an exam room was free. I pointed out that my service dog had been in the treatment area on a previous visit with no issue, but was still denied access. This is not compliant with ADA. If that wasn't enough, I got a phone call to let me know that the office will not file secondary insurance. I had no idea that the kids had been added to a primary dental plan. I asked to have the bill sent to me so that I could submit it the secondary insurance (medicaid) that I had thought was the only dental insurance. I was informed that they could not provide that and even if they could, medicaid only allows claims to be submitted by a practice. I asked if, given the circumstance, they could submit it to medicaid on my behalf. I was told that the doctor who owns the practice had made the decision not to file any secondary insurance and no exceptions would be made. Because of this decision on the part of the owner, my child no longer has access to treatment with full sedation. There are not other providers that provide the service and take our insurance. I contacted many other pediatric dentists, all of whom do file secondary insurance, but none provided full sedation. I finally decided to get a consult with one of them even though the only option was laughing gas and numbing. I was absolutely stunned when the new dentist provided the new treatment plan which included the same extractions but only 2 crows and the rest of the teeth that Southpoint peds had wanted to do crowns only needed sealants! I no longer have the estimate I received from Southpoint peds, but at the new dentist the cost per tooth for a crown was $425. A sealant per tooth was $90. This leads me to believe that on top of this practice not being equitable and not caring to provide services to those with secondary medicaid, they are also pushing unnecessary treatments on their patients. All of the above is preventable. This practice is choosing to operate outside federal law, the best interests of the patients, and just basic human decency.
